Camp, CrossFit + Tank’s Glass Eye Fund

Dudes.

How’s it hangin’?  It has been such a busy week for me with camp, the election, and CrossFit that I feel like it was just Sunday, but it’s not.  It’s Thursday dudes.

Monday night after camp I went over to Solidarity CrossFit to practice some elements and give out a few coaching pointers.

you gotta lay back into your swing here

If there’s one thing I’m a stickler for it’s proper form, and the erg is a place where most inexperienced rowers struggle.  I mean, look at me, I’m no giant, but I sure can drop those meters like a boss.  I think everyone appreciated that I took the time to help make some technical tweaks, and I sure did love finally seeing the new facility.

observing form from a higher vantage point

I was exhausted by minute 20 – I mean listen, it had been a long day at camp – so I checked out before the WOD was over, but I think everyone really did benefit from my insight and experience.  I’m working on tweaking my instructional video on box jumps.  I’m at 24″ and can do 20 in a row without stopping, but my goal is 50.  I’m thinking I’ll have it down by January.

i got lots of thank you love before I left

Tuesday I took off from camp because it was the election and I was glued to the news all day analyzing the polls and watching the lines.  The fact that I can’t vote is just so upsetting I can’t even tell you.  Tank and I had some buddies over to watch the results come in, and we all made it into the double digits but I totally faded before any of the speeches.

tank being way emo with uncle david

I’m just waiting for someone to come to the plate and talk seriously about water bowl sanitation issues.  I mean, this is getting ridiculous.  All of us drinking out of the same contaminated water, and the big dogs with their big tongues draining the supply before us littles get in to the play yard? It’s totally unjust!  I need to hear how these jokers are planning on regulating that, and all the aggressive sniffing that happens in parks and public settings.  Did I say you could put your snout there? No. I didn’t.  And that’s assault, brotha.  I have so many agenda items that I care so passionately about that I can’t go on because I just wouldn’t be able to stop.  I wouldn’t.  It’s insane.

I was back at camp yesterday, which was awesome, so awesome in fact that I had to take another rest day today.  I’ve been chilling with Tank a bunch on my off days because he just found out that he’s going to have to wear his spectacles for life because he can’t see out of his one eye.  I mean, seriously, no more Tanky Potter jokes, he’s super sensi about it.  Apparently he’s never had full vision so he doesn’t know any different but that hasn’t seemed to console him during this new mental anguish.

Stay tuned for updates on the ‘Glass Eye Fund’ that I’m starting for Tank.  I mean, what better way to compliment the scary ‘nam stories he tells all the neighborhood kids than to have a glass eye that actually pops out?! So far he still wants to keep his eye but I’m pretty sure I can get him on board eventually.  I mean, what wouldn’t he give up to have a better party trick? His snaggle tooth just ain’t cutting it anymore.

I’m back to camp tomorrow, and hopefully also back on the grind with my training videos.  Gotta keep things moving around here.

Stay cool my babies,

Tank is a Spectacle.

Dudes,

This week was health week and Tank and I made a trip to the vet.   I had to get the all clear on my ‘situation’ and Tank had to get some shots and an eye exam. He’s been squinting a bunch lately and made the font on his iphones like 100 point to read his emails, it’s kind of embarrassing.  He has been telling people that he’s going blind.  Um, I’m pretty sure that you’re not blind if you can still see, but it’s Tank and he’s just a little dramatic when it comes to his hypochondria.

I absolutely love going to the vet.  I mean, come on people, there are treats freaking everywhere.  I got a little worked up during Tank’s eye exam because they made me sit in the corner, and I’m like, listen dudes, nobody puts Buggie in the corner! Thankfully the exam was short and I got to get back up on the attention table.  And you know what, it was worth it, because Tank’s new glasses are HOT.

Tanky Potter.

I can’t even tell you what a big change it has been in Tank’s daily life.  He says they give him x-ray vision, but I’m not convinced.  I’m just glad he can see the TV better now because DA BEARS are on today and I’m tired of him constantly asking what the score is.  I’m hoping we can get him some contacts soon because if he even tries to visit me at camp in those eye sores we’re going to be in a fight.

Hope you all had good weekends – I’ve been working on my box jumps a ton so stay tuned for my first fitness exclusive blog post, starring me, Bug, and my good friend ambition.

Stay cool my babies,

Pumpkin, Sandy & My Humbling Halloween

Dudes,

This has been a crazy week. From costume contests to hurricane sandy, I’ve been through some highs and lows.

As I told you in last week’s post, camp sponsored a big costume party on Sunday. I was a WRECK all week picking my outfit.  I almost went as a binder full of women, but opted for something warmer when I checked the temp outside.  It’s chill ‘ville people.

I went as a froggle.

There were some pretty great costumes out there, and unfortunately, I was defeated in the awards rounds.  The big winner was a doodle dressed as the dog from up attached. to balloons. It was a total relief that he wasn’t dressed like any of the human characters.  No offense but it skeeves me out when I see animals dressed like humans.  It just ain’t right.

Tall mommy went with me, which I NEVER would have allowed if I knew the SPCA group was going to be there.  She got a little too emo when she met Pumpkin in her bumble bee costume.

Punkin’ is cool and all, but I don’t have space in my room for another sibling.  I mean, Tank is hibernating ALL the time in there these days. This place is at FULL capacity.

Tall mommy made me promise to tell you all that ‘Pumpkin’ is available for adoption at the Charlottesville/Albemarle SPCA.  She’s 8 years old, super sweet, and doesn’t get a lot of visits.

She made blonde mommy go and walk her yesterday – I almost went but Tank and I were at home recovering from the hurricane scare.  Blonde mommy calls her ‘plumpkin’ because she’s carrying a few extra LBS, but I get it.  I mean, I love food, and my boyfriend Toby is always telling me how he likes a pup with a little meat on her bones.  Get it plumpkin pumpkin, I feel you, no judgement.

As many of you know, hurricane Sandy came up the east coast this week.  Everything was shut down in anticipation of high winds and torrential rains.  I didn’t think it was going to impact my life until camp said they were going to be closed on Tuesday.  Yeah, that’s right, camp CLOSED.  I didn’t even know that was possible.  I was so upset I tied my leash to one of the supporting beams and vowed to stand my ground even if all the walls came down.  I keep emergency snacks in my camp knapsack so I would have been set for a day or so.  I figured this would be a great way to demonstrate my commitment to camp and both my mental and physical toughness.  My plan would have totally worked if tall mommy hadn’t made me go home.  I missed my big moment, and to rub salt in my very open wound, I missed the LAST costume contest at camp today. Unbelievable.

Hope you all had good halloweens.  And someone adopt Pumpkin so tall mommy will stop trying to bring her home.

Stay cool my babies.

Fall updates.

Dudes, how’s it hangin’?

It’s becoming a pretty crisp fall here in cville.  My first sign was that it feels a bit cooler in the mornings, my second was when the pool closed at camp.  The moms even took Herman to his winter home so Tank has moved his office to the couch.  He loves that thing.  I’m pretty sure he’s keeping his secret journal somewhere in the cracks but I haven’t had enough time alone in there to get my paws on it.

As the fall has been rolling in the mom’s have been super busy with their businesses and new projects, so I’ve been able to talk them into taking me to camp a couple more times a week.  It’s awesome.  I think the increased frequency has helped expedite my relationship development with some of the regulars.

Today my buddy Lexi and I got a little publicity on the camp Facebook page – a picture snapped right after he finished telling me a joke.  That guy is always cracking me up.

So, two cats walked into a bar…

Today when I was leaving camp I saw this dude Howie with his parents.  It’s so weird to see my camp friends outside of play group, but I think that might be a good angle to take if I’m going to secure solid votes for class president.  I sent tall mommy an email about FINALLY scheduling a play date with my friend Fiona.  I’ve been on her to schedule it for DAYS, and honestly, it’s like she doesn’t even read my emails.  She’s had a stomach virus for a few days, but I can’t let a little illness hold back my campaign.

I’m staying home with Tank tomorrow so I’ll be sure to post more about those ‘adventures.’  Tank has been a changed man these last few months so his plans are far less dangerous and far more BORING, but that’s a story for another time.

Stay cool my babies,

YObama.

Dudes.  Sorry this post is slightly delayed, but I am just recovering from yesterday’s excitement.  PRESIDENT OBAMA came to visit yesterday.  He just lives up the road a couple of hours in DC, so he’s not far, but he doesn’t get a ton of time to come for a visit.  Even Sissy Spacek came out to to the Downtown Mall to surprise the President (she lives here too). A pretty rad Wednesday afternoon if you ask me.

Sweet candid pic of Sissy and B. snapped by P. Souza.

This was a very important visit for him since the election is fast approaching, but it was more important for me since I follow his campaign closely to gather tips and inspiration for my own political run.  Yes, that’s right, I’ve still got my eye on the great honor of being class president at camp, and since Obama and I are practically twins, I pay close attention to how he carries himself and his general approach to connecting.

I’ve been working on my presidential look

I need a flag background. For real.

I’m not saying that I think impersonating Obama is going to win me the vote at camp, but I’m committed to learning from his leadership skills and you can bet your sweet hiney that I’ll be studying his speeches before I hit the campaign trail.  Tank was supposed to be my campaign manager, but I think his conspiracy theories might hurt my chances.

I’m working on getting buttons for my online store, but in the meantime, don’t forget to vote for me in the Real House Pets of Cville competition.  It has been a tough race so far, but I’m due in at camp tomorrow and I’m hoping to generate a little word of mouth publicity.

Time for some Z’s.

Stay cool my babies,

Training Day #1

Dudes. This is one exhausted Bug reporting back to you after an action packed weekend.

The moms took Tank and I to the play park by our house and Tank ran me through a more dynamic training series.  I’m not gonna lie, it was killer, but I’m confident that his programming is preparing me both physically and mentally for the most demanding of challenges.

Check out our training facility.

Let me tell you, my paws are still screaming from the lateral jumps and wind sprints, but like Tank always tells me, ‘this ain’t disneyland.’

After the physical workout we moved into the mental exercises.  Tank says it’s important for me to push myself and test my mental sharpness after each practice session.  Yesterday our focus was on my reflex and reaction timing.

Tank, do we have insurance?

I drove the tractor while Tank dropped my old babies in my path and I had to dodge them, weaving through the terrain to avoid any casualties.

RIP Mr. Cow, you will be missed.

We took today off so Tank and I just goofed around the park scoping out the scene a little more so we could plan out this weeks training.

Tank thinks he’s 007.

Idaho? No, YOU da hoe.

We’ve got a big week coming up so the rest of the day we just hung out at the house and got some sun.  Sunning is one of Tanks favorite things.  I’ve got to admit, its growing on me.

Tank is WAY tanner than me.

Stay cool my babies.

H20.

So, a couple days a week I go to camp. The other kids in my camp are pretty cool – I’m in small group because of my size, but I’m angling to roll with the bigs before the end of the year.

It’s been wicked hot out lately, so I’ve been taking dips in the pool and surveying the scene. I’m thinking about running for class president this year, so I’ve got to get a good feel for the play yard and who runs which toy rings.

Last weekend the moms took me to a big pool for swimming lessons, and my brother Tank showed me how to live the good life.

Tank’s a boss – just check out his teeth. He’s nice to me because I’m his little sister, but he’ll cut you if you try to mess with me.

Time for breakfast, so I’ve gotta roll.

Stay cool my babies.
