The Monotony of At Home Living

Dudes, hi.  It’s me, Bug.

I just got back from a week in Charlotte – which was fine – but I missed a whole week of camp.  A whole damn week of camp.

I remember last monday like it was yesterday, only it was last week instead.  I loaded in the car like I always do on Mondays, but instead of  arriving at camp 10 minutes later, Tank and I were held captive in the car for hours.  Multiple hours.  It was so painful.

Once we got there I was so distracted by all of the change and commotion that I nearly forgot how devastated I had decided to be about missing camp.  I barely had time to use the outdoor facilities before Tank was in the pool.  So typical.

He’s so ridiculous.  He spent most of his waking hours sunning himself, swimming, and drinking by the pool.

I was so angry that I was robbed of this week at camp that I spent most of it on the couch, napping.  It was like I traded lives with Tank.  Nobody seemed to care that it was Toby and my anniversary.  I mean seriously, where is the compassion people?

We finally came home on Sunday, after another torturously long car ride, and I finally made my grand return to camp on Monday.

Now, this is not one of those stories where the main character experiences one challenging situation and then it’s all home free and sunny days.   This is a story of struggle – of my struggle.

Monday I made it back to camp, and let me tell you, it was glorious.  I played, I sunned, I generally socialized with any and all other living beings.  It was like being at a 5 star resort, and then suddenly, it was time to go.

I woke up this morning to the worst realization of all – it’s Tuesday.  A mother-sniffing work from home day where I don’t get to go to camp.  It’s my worst day of the week.

After my morning coffee (or the coffee of whoever left theirs on the table) I was ready to go.  I wanted to do something, I wanted adventure! Instead, I got to watch the news with Tank on the couch.  Thrilling.

By lunch I was considering going on the lam.  Someone thought it was an ingenious idea to work outside to multi-task and get to enjoy the day.  Well guess what, ‘someone’ was not full of great ideas today.  It was 90 degrees.  I live in a fur coat.  I was not amused.

It was like torture.  Seriously.  If someone told me I had to be a stay at home Bug, well I’d be packing my napsack and hitting the road before you could say treat.  You want to waste your day sitting around and ‘working?’ Well, I ain’t got time for that.

Thankfully tomorrow is another camp day so you don’t need to worry.  As long as I get dropped off by 9am no one will have to get hurt.  I’m campaigning for a camp bus for next year – I swear it’s the only way I’ll get there on time.

Breaking News: Lex Turned 7

Dudes,

I got so caught up in telling everyone about Tank’s new readers that I completely forgot to give a big BIRTHDAY shout out to my good buddy Lex who lives in Charlotte.  Lex is Truman’s brother, and the best brother a dog could have.  I guess that makes him Tank and my cousin officially, but we’re so much more like siblings I can’t even tell you.

this just screams ‘brothers’

he LOVES wet willies

I mean seriously, if we weren’t related, we’d be in love.

When we’re all together I can’t even tell you what kind of trouble we get into.  We just have a few juice boxes and suddenly Tank’s in the pool, I’m roasting ‘shmallows and Lex is building contraptions out of the patio furniture.  I don’t even know where Truman gets to, but to be honest he mostly just watches out for the rest of us to make sure we don’t get called in to the pokey (or the house).

Tank and I were super bummed to miss his Bday, but we’ve got big plans for the celebration the next time we see him.  I don’t want to spoil it but it involves a yoyo, a tennis ball, and some guerilla glue.  Seriously, you don’t even know how awesome it’s going to be.  Don’t tell our moms.

If you would, please pour out some of your water bowl in honor of my buddy Lex and his 7th Birthday!!

Stay cool my babies,

Doggles, Aunt Mitch + the Hotness.

Dudes.  I mean seriously.  Eat your heart out Suri, this outfit is the new hotness.

I need to meet this dude. ASAP.

This is the greatest outfit I’ve seen since Tank’s rambo sweatband.  And just in time for NYC Fashion week.  I bet those little 5th avenue mini’s and tea cups couldn’t pull off a unit like this one.  And did you see the DOGGLES??  Um, yes please.  I’ve been asking for doggles for MONTHS.  They are perfection.

I even found a sweet pair with sculls and crossbones on them on amazon but tall mommy said that I have to wait until my next allowance because this month’s allowance is going to support my Aunt Mitch in running her marathon (she’s running the NYC ING Marathon for Freds Team to raise $ for cancer research so check her out & give her monies).

I can’t even talk about this any more.  I immediately need to find one of these in my size and push for an advance on my allowance.  I’d borrow from tank but he lost it all on the races this weekend. I think he has a problem.

I’ll report back with my findings.

Stay cool my babies,

Week update: The Carolinas, a dog wedding & hating on civil rights.

Dudes,

Big week here.  Tank and I took our last road trip of the summer with the moms and visited our birth place: Charlotte, NC.    The trip was great but I’ve got to get back on track with my training.  Don’t even talk to me about my diet – it went right out the window on day 1 and I can barely see my back toes.

This trip we stayed with my two best friends:  Lex and Truman.

Lex & I catching up.

TRUMAN! the man.

On Tuesday morning Tank and I went to our first dog wedding.  Truman and his sister Jola got married – Lex officiated.

they don’t look too excited to me. prolly just nerves.

I guess in North Carolina you can marry your relatives, just as long as you’re not both boys or both girls.  I think it’s crazy, because if Tank wanted to marry Truman that would be like the best days of my life.

It was an emotional morning.

After the ceremony we all had busy days but joined back together later that night for a big celebratory reception.  Uncle Bill  got wild with the blender and shit started to get crazy.  The rest of the night was a blur.

It always smells like a good idea in the beginning.

The next morning was rough, but I pulled myself out of bed early because it was Lex’s first day of school.  He’s in 1st grade – I can’t believe it.

it’s a miracle my eyes were even open.

Lex came up to make sure Tall mommy and I were awake and fed me my breakfast.  I was still feeling a little queasy, but it did help.

All in all it was a great week.  I’ll be back soon because I’m going to overnight camp with my agility trainer, Alan.  He’s going to help me up my cardio base and perfect my form.  I can’t wait.

It was a long ride back to Virginia,  but we made it.

are we there yet?

We’re finally all settled into the new house and let me tell you, it’s going to be great to sleep in my own bed tonight.

Stay cool my babies,

xx Bug
